Bummer Halloween

Well, don't ask me if I enjoyed my Halloween 'cause I didn't! I had to trick or treat in the lobby and there was only one room! So I got just one little pouch of candy! We couldn't go outside because it was raining! But m aunt was nice enough to send us a little jar of those tiny hard candy fish-they taste great. :D

Poetry Month

Hey, it's poetry month! Post some poetry in the comments if you'd like. Found poetry, limericks, haiku, concrete, whatever. Just let it express your emotions about that topic. Here's mine:

Lay's Chips
It begins with quality, homegrown potatoes,
Just as it always has.
Simple, wholesome and real.

First we carefully wash, peel, and slice the potatoes.
Then we cook them until they are perfectly crispy.
Leaving it with it's delicious potato taste.

Finally we add seasoning for flavor

Delicious ingredients and homegrown potatoes-
So you get that perfect chip each time you reach into our bag.

Happiness is simple.

You see how poetic that sounds. And I got that from a chip bag! Poems are everywhere!

Happiness is simple!

PEACE FOR EVERYONE!!!!! 8D

The great Washtanic!

Hello my friends! There is a tiny little 'puddle' in my laundry machine! Some relatives came to fix it. I guess it's really bad because they wore flip-flops in there and they rolled up their pants. So it took them like 30 minutes to finish. Well they just left, like right now. It was such a commotion! Huuuhhhh.....well..don't know what else to say. Oh! Today is my grandmother's birthday! I think we are going out for dinner or lunch. Any ways, BYE!

Easy Bake

Today and yesterday me and my siblings made some cookies with my sister's Easy Bake oven! It was the first time we ever touched the thing. When we started to bake it seemed like we were doing everything right and it was not easy by the way! Anyways, the instructions said to bake for 10 minutes. So we did that but we didn't time it so we didn't know when 10 minutes was done! when we took them out it looked kind of undercooked. I tried some and it wasn't that bad! My mom tried some and she said they were definitely undercooked! So Jessica, my little sister, microwaved them for 19 seconds and they were still kind of mushy. So she microwaved them for 41 seconds and they were burnt! I tried to fix it then I tasted them. They were really crunchy but still good. Today, we tried again in the morning. This time we made sugar cookies. We followed the steps very carefully and did not make any mistakes. Except for one. We were waiting and waiting for them to cook and we checked on them several times! Them just wouldn't cook in the time they were supposed to! Then I decided I didn't want to take part of this 'mumbo jumbo' so I left the room and watched T.V. instead. Jessica saw a little dial and turned it to the right. The cookies were done in a flash! She came and told me what had happened. Turns out that little dial was how high the light bulb was cooking the cookies! It was on low all this time and that was why the cookies were underdone (then overdone) before! The cookies tasted so good as if we just bought them fresh from the world's best bakery shop! Well that's the story of how I learned what that little dial was for! Now I love baking! Thanks for reading this very long article thingy!

PEACE! <3

Review of "The Sound of Music" by Alyssa Lim

Title:  “The Sound of Music” will asound you!
By: Alyssa Lim.

Everyone needs music. Music heals your heart when it has been wounded. Well Robert Wise’s screen production of “The Sound of Music” shows you how music can change your heart.

The Mother Superior (Peggy Wood) sends Frauline Maria (Julie Andrews) to take care of Captain Von Trapp’s (Christopher Plummer) 7 children.  At first the children disliked Maria, but after teaching them to sing, they had a change of heart. Captain is going to marry a baroness (Eleanor Parker). Maria gets nervous because she finds out that the Captain is in love with her, so she leaves to the Abby.

Julie Andrews did an excellent job playing Maria. Her emotions looked real and she stayed in character. Eleanor Parker did a very believable job in playing the baroness. In the scene of the front yard I started to dislike her character. The Captain did a good job. The children, Uncle Max, Nazi and all the other characters did wonderful jobs.

I liked the plot because it had an interesting storyline. The end was okay, but I really wanted to see what happened after the movie.

The theme of this movie is faith. I learned that you must have faith in yourself and others no matter how bad things get. Others can learn what I learned.

My rating of this movie is ***** out of *****.

Alyssa Lim is an independent junior. She plays the piano (level 3), she loves creating things, inventing, baseball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and hanging out by herself. She has created a new juice which is a mixture of lemonade and grape juice.
